Gwynedd Friends School seeks candidates who are passionate about working with young children in a play-based program. Our teachers help students become confident learners, model peaceful conflict resolution, and promote a sense of belonging in the wider community. An understanding of, and appreciation for, Quakerism and early childhood pedagogy are important to our work as educators at Gwynedd Friends School. We look for creative, organized, patient and nurturing candidates. Lead teachers must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood or elementary education and have experience working with young children. Assistant teachers must have at least 2 years of experience working with young children and/or possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood or elementary education.

PRESCHOOL LEAD TEACHER
Gwynedd Friends School seeks a dedicated, experienced preschool teacher to join our school community as a teacher of 3 year olds/older 2 year olds, beginning in early November. Our teachers help students become confident learners, model peaceful conflict resolution, and promote a sense of belonging in the wider community. The ideal candidate will be creative, organized, patient, loving, enjoy spending time outdoors, and enjoy working with others.
Position Responsibilities
Responsibilities for the position include planning and implementing a creative, dynamic classroom program with daily learning activities; establishing a classroom culture that supports children socially, emotionally, and academically; working collaboratively and cooperatively with families, faculty, and staff.
Strong candidates should have:
a BA or BS in Education or a related field
teaching experience in related age groups and subjects;
strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills;
an interest in and capability to work, plan, and implement play-based learning initiatives and outdoor explorations as an extension of the classroom;
a broad repertoire of strategies to teach children with diverse learning styles;
strong organizational skills;
excitement about working closely and collaboratively with other educators;
a high level of interest in and willingness to learn about Quaker education;
Comfort with spending blocks of time outside, exploring and playing as an extension to classroom learning.
Teachers participate fully in the life of the School, including facilitating outdoor play in different weather conditions, planning, participating in school events, conducting family conferences, writing reports, participating in faculty and team meetings, and other related activities. Hours for Preschool teachers are from 8:30-12:15 daily.
