PLAYGROUP

For children who are 2 years old by September 1st

2-Day – Tuesday/Thursday – 9:00am - 12:00pm

3-Day – Monday/Wednesday/Friday – 9:00am - 12:00pm

  • Playgroup provides children who are two and three years old an opportunity to learn to separate from their caregivers in a safe, nurturing environment.

  • We encourage the children to explore their surroundings, interact with children their age, and learn to love coming to school.

  • Literature, art activities, music, and facilitated play are used to explore the Units of Exploration.

  • Daily outside play provides an opportunity for children to run, jump, climb, slide, dig and explore nature, which develops their motor skills, social skills, and language skills.

Preschool

For children who are 3 years old by September 1st

2-Day Program – Tuesday/Thursday – 9am-12pm

3-Day Program – Monday/Wednesday/Friday – 9am-12pm

  • Children will approach learning through multiple disciplines while observing the world around them.

  • The teachers will engage the children in familiar Morning Meeting routines, as well as read-alouds, finger-plays, songs, rhymes, and other curricular explorations. Teachers will weave in the Quaker testimonies of Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality and Stewardship.

  • During the second half of the school year, teachers will begin to introduce the materials from the Learning Without Tears: Get Set for School Curriculum (formerly introduced in PreK). The Get Set for Curriculum offers research-based, developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that are hands-on, multisensory-based, and child-centered.

Pre-Kindergarten

For children who are 4 years old by September 1st

4-Day – Monday through Thursday – 9:00am - 1:00pm

5-Day – Monday through Friday – 9:00am - 1:00pm

  • In addition to our Units of Exploration, the Pre-Kindergarten teachers provide daily instruction using the Learning Without Tears: Get Set for School Curriculum.

Kindergarten

For children who are 5 years old by September 1st

5-Day – Monday through Friday – 8:45am - 1:00pm

  • In addition to our Units of Exploration, the Kindergarten teachers provide daily instructions using Wilson Fundations, Kidwriting, Mathematics Their Way, and Singapore Math. Wilson Fundations provides research-based materials and strategies essential to a comprehensive reading, spelling and handwriting program.

  • Kidwriting provides a systematic approach to phonics, journals, and writing workshop. Mathematics Their Way develops an understanding and insight of the patterns in mathematics through the use of concrete materials. Singapore Math helps to develop number sense and operations in base ten.
