We are delighted that you are considering Gwynedd Friends School for your child's early education. With a legacy spanning over 80 years in teaching young children, we pride ourselves on our expertise, shaped by the principles and values of Quakerism. Our nature-focused curriculum, which emphasizes learning through play, is thoughtfully crafted to engage each child at their own pace.
The question of when to start searching for a preschool is common among parents. Our recommendation is to plan a visit in the late fall and submit an application by January. Enrollment for new families will then take place in February.
If you are interested in a Gwynedd Friends School education for your child, we invite you to come see us in action! Please see the steps of our Admissions process below. The process includes a tour, playdate and application. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
Inquire
If you have not already done so, fill out our New Student Information Form to express your interest in a Gwynedd Friends School education for your child.
Tour
Upon filling out the Student Information Form, the admissions office will contact you to schedule a tour. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to meet with the director of admissions, learn about the school's philosophy and programs, and ask any questions that you may have. Note that tours can be scheduled on weekdays starting in the fall, with an Open House scheduled for one Saturday morning.
Current and alumni families do not need to tour the school again if they do not wish to do so, but they will need to complete all of the other steps of the Admissions process.
Playdate
After the parent tour, your child will be invited to attend a playdate at the school. The playdate is designed to give the admissions team an opportunity to observe your child in a group setting and assess their social and emotional readiness for the school environment. Additionally, this gives your child a chance to spend some time in our classrooms and get a feel for the environment to ensure their comfort.
Apply
After the playdate, you will need to submit an application for admission. The application will entail basic information, such as your child's age and any previous education, as well as your goals and expectations for their school experience.
Enroll
Once your application is received, it will be reviewed by our admissions team, and you will be notified of the next steps in the process. Enrollment in the school will require a formal registration and payment of a non-refundable enrollment fee.
